Precision Medicine and the Future of Stroke Therapy

Modern imaging techniques that allow visualization of the ischemic core and penumbra have made the stroke treatment window transparent, which allows for therapy to be tailored based on individual characteristics of specific patients. These advances have led to unprecedented progress in the treatment of acute stroke.  Based on precision medicine techniques, in 2018 the treatment window for stroke therapy was quadrupled from 6 to 24 hours.

In this webinar, Dr. Greg Albers shares how modern imaging techniques and evolving treatment guidelines have allowed for stroke therapy to be tailored to a patient's individual characteristics. He'll also cover the future horizons for stroke care advances that include: pediatric populations, posterior circulation stroke, late window thrombolysis, and identification of patients with large core infarcts who can benefit from reperfusion therapies.
