Stroke in 2020: Pandemic, Penumbra, Prevention

Webinar_hero-1
The current Covid-19 pandemic has shed new light on stroke diagnosis, prevention, clinical workflow and optimization of diagnosis and treatment at centers worldwide.

Multiple recent studies show that Covid-19 increases stroke risk, yet many stroke patients are hesitant to present to the hospital for urgent treatment.  Advanced real time data tracking can provide insights into evolving stroke diagnosis and treatment trends.

A recent study published in STROKE by Dr. Bruce Campbell, “Optimal Imaging at the Primary Stroke Center”, highlights that imaging of penumbral tissue in primary stroke centers can facilitate rapid diagnosis and appropriate triage decisions.  Appropriate imaging at primary centers affects clinical workflow, fast-tracking LVO patients to endovascular-capable centers to treat them beyond 4.5 hours.

TOPICS COVERED IN THIS SESSION:

  • Optimal imaging at PSC can reduce subsequent re-imaging
  • Imaging collaterals at the PSC
  • CTP improves diagnostic accuracy and confidence
  • Decision-making in patients with large ischemic stroke
  • Practical implementation of advanced imaging in PSCs
